How hide size is measured:
Leather hides are not cut into perfect rectangles. Tanneries measure hides by computerized machines and the actual area (sq ft) is stamped on the back of each hide.
Maximum dimensions (Length × Width):
When we show dimensions, it refers to the maximum length and maximum width of the hide (the widest and longest points). Because hides have a natural shape, every hide varies.
Square feet is AREA (not Length × Width):
~3.3 ft × 3 ft ≈ 10 sq ft (and the length is usually longer than the width)
